The Scientific Advisory Board
Scientific advisors are typically thought/consensus leaders, high profile researchers or high
volume surgical users of technology. This can lead to a biased or incomplete view of solutions
to disease treatment. Finding a way for more global and diversified input has the potential
for many more caregivers to register their thoughts on the basis of experience. This would open
the opportunity for more patient directed solutions based on a large number of caregiver experience.
Spine surgeons advise their patients in their practice. To query, tabulate and garner input from many
front line caregivers can only help to optimize patient care. We will all be able to act as scientific
advisors in one capacity or another and this social media approach will allow this to happen.
